Turn a wide video into vertical clips (16:9 to 9:16)
GeoCaptions makes clips for TikTok, Reels and Shorts from a wide video: choose the part worth posting, and it crops the 16:9 picture to a 9:16 one that follows whoever is talking, adds Georgian captions timed word by word and keeps them clear of the apps' buttons. You choose the moment; GeoCaptions does the cropping, the captions and the clean-up.
Why cut a long video into clips
A long video is watched mostly by the people who already follow you. Short vertical clips are where new people scroll, and most of them scroll with the sound off.
- 200 billionviews a day on YouTube Shorts alone, by YouTube's own count in June 2025. Vertical clips are where the watching is.
- 45%of 18–34-year-olds in Georgia are on TikTok.
- 69%of people watch video with the sound off in public places. The first thing they meet is the text, not the voice.
- 80%say they are more likely to watch a video to the end when it has captions.

From a wide video to a vertical clip
- Add the video. A file from your phone or computer, as long as your plan allows: 1 min on Free, 5 on Creator, 30 on Pro, 60 on Studio.
- Choose the part. In Part to caption, mark the moment worth posting. You pay credits only for that part, not the whole video.
- Switch on Vertical. Under Edit the video, Vertical crops the wide picture to 9:16 and follows whoever is talking. Cut pauses and Cut “uh”s tighten the talk.
- Check and download. Go through the words the check marks, fix a name if needed, and download the clip ready to post.
How the vertical camera works
A plain crop of the middle loses the speaker as soon as they move or someone else talks. GeoCaptions looks at the faces and listens to the sound, so it knows who is talking at each moment.
- One person talking The picture stays on them and moves only when they do, in calm, even moves.
- Two people taking turns The picture cuts to whoever is talking, like a two-camera edit. A quick back-and-forth shows both, one above the other.
- Text, charts and wide shots With no face to follow, the whole picture is shown on a blurred copy of itself, so nothing is cut off.
- Captions stay in time The clip keeps the same length and the same sound, and the captions are placed for the vertical shape.
Why make your clips with GeoCaptions
- Georgian captions done right Every word is compared with a Georgian dictionary of 510,000 words, and the doubtful ones are marked, so you fix only those.
- Clear of the apps' buttons With Keep captions visible on TikTok, Reels & Shorts on, the captions sit where the like and comment buttons cannot cover them.
- Your wide video is kept Make it vertical on the edit page and the wide original stays: you can switch back to it, and the vertical is paid for only once.
- Captions in other languages too A Georgian clip can get captions in English, Russian and 57 more languages (2 credits a minute), for viewers outside Georgia.
- Nothing to install It works in the browser, on a phone or a computer. The vertical work runs on our server, not on your device.
Questions people ask
Does GeoCaptions find the best moments for me?
Not yet. You choose the part to post; GeoCaptions then makes it vertical, captions it and can cut its pauses.
How much does a vertical clip cost?
2 credits a minute of the part you choose, captions included (captions alone are 1 credit a minute). The button shows the exact price before you press it.
How long can a vertical clip be?
As long as your plan allows, in minutes: Free 1, Creator 5, Pro 30, Studio 30. Free clips have a watermark and are 720p; paid ones have no watermark and are 1080p.
Can I make a video vertical after it is captioned?
Yes. On the edit page, the Video shape card has Make it vertical (9:16). You pay only the difference, as the captions are already paid for, and Back to wide (16:9) returns to the original.
What kind of video works best?
One or two people talking to the camera: interviews, podcasts, talks, vlogs. A wide shot with many people or text across the whole picture may lose something at the edges, so check the clip before posting.
Does it work for TikTok, Reels and YouTube Shorts?
Yes. 9:16 is the shape all three use, and the captions can be kept clear of each app's buttons.
