GeoCaptions vs YouTube's auto-captions in Georgian
Yes, YouTube makes Georgian captions automatically: its help page lists Georgian for automatic captions, it costs nothing, and viewers switch the captions on while they watch. They stay on YouTube. They are not burned into the video, you cannot style them, and they do nothing for TikTok, Instagram Reels or a video posted anywhere else. GeoCaptions makes Georgian captions that are part of the video file, in 12 looks, in about 13–33 seconds for each minute of video. Free to try, no card needed.

When to use which
- Your video lives only on YouTube and needs no styling YouTube's own captions are a good fit: free, automatic, nothing to upload anywhere else. Read them before viewers do; automatic captions can have mistakes.
- You post on TikTok, Instagram Reels or anywhere outside YouTube YouTube's captions do not travel with the video. You need captions burned into the file. That is what GeoCaptions makes, and a wide video can be made vertical first (“Make it vertical”).
- You want the captions to have a look Big words, colours, outline, emoji: those are GeoCaptions' 12 looks. YouTube's automatic captions have no look for you to choose.
- You post in both places Make the captions once in GeoCaptions. Post the burned-in video on TikTok and Reels, and download the SRT file for YouTube, which accepts subtitle files.
Questions people ask
Does YouTube make Georgian captions automatically?
Yes. YouTube's help page lists Georgian among the languages for automatic captions. It is free, you do not have to do anything, and viewers switch the captions on in the player.
Can I use YouTube's captions on TikTok or Reels?
No. They are shown by YouTube's player, so they stay on YouTube. They are not part of the video file, so a video you post on TikTok or Reels has none. For those you need captions burned into the file; GeoCaptions makes them and keeps them clear of the apps' buttons.
Can I change how YouTube's automatic captions look?
No. You do not choose a look for them; YouTube's player shows them in its own way. In GeoCaptions you choose from 12 looks and see each one on your own video before you start.
Which is more accurate, YouTube or GeoCaptions?
We do not know, and we will not guess. We did not measure YouTube's Georgian captions, so we give no number for it. For GeoCaptions, measured on the FLEURS Georgian test, about 8 words in 100 are wrong with clean speech; more with noise. GeoCaptions marks the doubtful words, and you fix only those.
Can I use GeoCaptions and YouTube together?
Yes. Make the captions in GeoCaptions, post the burned-in video where you need it, and upload the SRT file to YouTube as your own subtitles. You check the Georgian once and use it in both places.
Is GeoCaptions free?
You get 3 minutes of captions a month free, with a watermark and at 720p, no card needed. Paid plans start at ₾19 a month, without the watermark and at 1080p. Prices are in lari; a video that fails gets its credits back. YouTube's automatic captions cost nothing.
