Safe zone checker for TikTok, Reels and Shorts

Pick a frame or a video from your phone or computer and see which parts TikTok, Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts cover with their buttons, your name and the description. Keep your captions and text inside the dashed box. Your file stays on your device: nothing is uploaded.

Check your video

No file yet: the frame above is empty. Choose a picture (a screenshot of your video works) or the video itself.

Your file is opened by this browser only: it is not uploaded, sent or saved.

Where the numbers come from

These are our own measurements on a 1080 × 1920 video, the same ones GeoCaptions uses to place captions when Keep captions visible on TikTok, Reels & Shorts is on. One set covers all three apps. Apps change their screens from time to time, so treat the zones as a guide, not a promise.

Questions people ask

What is the TikTok safe zone?

The part of a 9:16 video that the app's buttons, your name and the description do not cover. On a 1080 × 1920 video that leaves out the top 160 px, the bottom 420 px and 150 px on the right.

Is it the same for Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts?

Close enough to use one set: their buttons sit in the same places. The zones here cover all three.

Is my video uploaded?

No. The browser opens the file from your device to show it, and nothing is sent to GeoCaptions or anyone else.
