How to make a wide video vertical (16:9 to 9:16)
On the video's edit page, find the Video shape card and press Make it vertical (9:16). GeoCaptions crops the picture to a phone screen and follows whoever is talking, and the captions are placed for the vertical video. The button shows its price in credits before you press it.
What happens
- The speaker is found. The picture is cropped around the person talking, and moves when someone else starts.
- Your wide video is kept. Back to wide (16:9) returns to the original for free, and going vertical again is free too once it is made.
- The captions follow. They are placed clear of the TikTok, Reels and Shorts buttons when Keep captions visible is on.
Works best when one or two people talk to the camera. A wide shot with many people or text across the whole picture may lose something at the edges: check the result before posting.
Questions people ask
How much does Make it vertical cost?
It costs more credits than captions alone; the button shows the exact price for your video before you press it. Going back to wide is free.

No. The wide version is kept, and you can switch back at any time for free.
Does it work for YouTube Shorts?
Yes. A 9:16 video is the shape TikTok, Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts all use.
